Job Description

The company licences to many SIM card vendors its product portfolio ranging from simple native SIM card operating systems to Java-enabled USIM card solutions with embedded micro-browsers. Before being in the position to licence the products to our customers, the card operating system need to be approved by the target mobile telecom operators. To reach this objective, a specific product personalisation and sometimes an important product customisation is required for which our customers need assistance.

The role of the smart card developer will be to personalise the product according to the mobile operator requirements, customise the product by developing additional software modules or plug-ins, performs on-site testing of the product in the real conditions of use, liase with the product manager to handle possible requests for product evolution, ensure the support and maintenance of the card profile in contact with the technical representatives of the SIM card vendor and/or the mobile telecom operator.

Strong mobility and high flexibility are required for this position. The candidate must possess good communication skills. Previous experience where he/she would have been involved with a direct customer relationship would be appreciated.

According to the candidate aspirations and achievements, career evolution can be directed toward the technical side (e.g. joining the development team in charge of the core product and taking responsibilities) or toward the customer side (customer support management or product management). Job Specification Details

Responsibilities

- Analyse customer requirements and translate them into technical specifications
- Implement the technical specifications through the development of profiles, the development of new software modules or the requests for evolution of the core product
- Carry out the complete customised product validation with the customer
- Assist the customer in the definition of the technical requirements
- Ensure that customer information is kept confidential
- Report to the hierarchy on a weekly basis the project evolution
- Undertake any ad hoc duties as may be required

Qualifications

Master of Science in Computer or Electronics Engineering

Experience

A minimum of two years of programming experience is required. Programming experience in embedded systems development would be more than welcome.

Skills

- Strong level of computer programming in C and Java is essential.
- Good knowledge of smart card or embedded systems programming would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of the Java Card and SIM/USIM technologies would be a decisive plus.
- Good level of English (written and spoken) and communication skills are essential.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role would be welcome.

Salary: 40K – 50K (according to the level of experience)

Job Description

The company is specialised in the provision of SIM and USIM card operating systems to smart card vendors. High-level products include Java Card virtual machines together with enhanced micro-browsers enabling the mobile telecom operators to develop interoperable value-added services on the card in a timely manner.

The role of the senior smart card developer is to maintain the existing core products and to take in charge the development of new innovative products to complement the existing portfolio. The development ranges from the writing of the technical specifications to complete validation of the product. Most products are implemented on ROM-based smart card chip and require a deep validation as they can be modified easily once the code has been masked in ROM memory.

A good knowledge of software development process and software quality management is required for this position. The candidate must be dedicated and focused on providing deliverables of the highest quality. He/she must be customer-oriented and possess good communication skills. Previous experience with customer-facing positions would be appreciated.
