Dublin Ireland

Platform for Enhanced Provisioning of Terminal-independent Applications (PEPiTA, ITEA if99007)

The goal of the project is to create a Java based leader implementation role for the European industry in the domain of middleware, for a terminal independent service platform, based on the Enterprise Java Beans server, supporting advanced telecom and secure internet value- added services. The consortium is aiming at the definition of common middleware services based on state-of- the-art software technologies and common software components supporting the requirements of the telecom and Internet value added services (security, transaction, user profile management, middleware for electronic commerce, information retrieval and exchange, security and service remote management, etc). A correspondent software platform is elaborated with a set of validation prototypes demonstrating access from Java-enabled terminals through IP-based networks. The members of the PEPiTA project are: Alcatel Bell, Alcatel CIT, Bantry Technologies, Bull CP8, Charles University, Evidian, France Telecom R&D, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Université de Grenoble, Université de Valenciennes.

GSM World Congress 2001
MobiJack™ & MobiScratch™
on GemDual®

Cannes, France
February 20-23, 2001

Bantry Technologies confirms its innovative range of SIM Toolkit secure mobile gaming solutions by porting its MobiJack™ and MobiScratch™ solutions onto the Gemplus GemDual® product. This SIM-based service working separately from the mobile telecom operator’s subscription using a dual-slot mobile phone opens the door to a new business model based on pre-paid game cards that can be bought at any newsagent shop. Operators no longer need to use a single SIM card to distribute new services and can, at any time, offer to their subscribers new mobile games by simply issuing new GemDual® cards on which the software application will be downloaded. This solution not only solves the problem of upgrading SIM Toolkit services but also offers a good alternative to SIM cards memory restriction. Bantry Technologies also provides its customers with a dynamic way of loading money or tokens on all gaming cards in a secure manner to manage the bets. With this new realization, Bantry Technologies strengthens its uncontested leadership in the world of wireless secure mobile solutions.
